Rolling down the highway
Obamacare has a "glitch"? Notice he blames congress.

WASHINGTON — Some families could get priced out of health insurance due to what's being called a glitch in President Barack Obama's overhaul law. IRS regulations issued Wednesday failed to fix the problem as liberal backers of the president's plan had hoped.

As a result, some families that can't afford the employer coverage that they are offered on the job will not be able to get financial assistance from the government to buy private health insurance on their own. How many people will be affected is unclear.

The Obama administration says its hands were tied by the way Congress wrote the law. Officials said the administration tried to mitigate the impact. Families that can't get coverage because of the glitch will not face a tax penalty for remaining uninsured, the IRS rules said.

This article describes our family.

:(

:( Honeybunny I'm so sorry. I know many people that fall into this "glitch". We must keep in mind who controlled the "congress" he is blaming for this glitch.

I wish I had the answers, I don't think anyone does and those penalties are going to hurt even more.

One answer is to drop our insurance and then just wait until we get sick to purchase another plan.
Under the new law, insurance companies cannot deny coverage due to any pre existing conditions.

They can't deny coverage but they can charge exorbitant fees to provide coverage. :rant

I have seen a few conversations where this is what people have decided to do and they even said that it would wind up saving them money. :dunno

They can't ask you about prior illnesses but I'm sure there's a way around that too. We'll just have to wait and see what's in it, Pelosi told us so.

One of the news folks said that congress (the dims) may just want to scrap it all, and go to single payer. This was in with the story about the unions not wanting to pay for insurance. I think that was the plan all along.

The entire plan is going to fall apart as written, and it isn't by mistake. In upholding the individual mandate, SCOTUS said that one of the reasons for regarding the penalty as a "tax" was that it was substantially lower than the real cost of insurance. Think about that. If I own a company, and the government says that I have to pay them $2000 per employee in penalty "tax", or $4500 give or take for insurance coverage, which do you think I am going to choose when times get tough? This is not an accident. The federal government will by law insure every one of these persons not offered insurance by their employer, or "tax" them no more than the "bronze" plan premium. Those without insurance will have their hospitalizations paid through Medicaid and other federal aid to providers programs. BINGO! SINGLE PAYER!
