Wonder if this will help...

This is more about my side of town... however the $$$ proposed to be spent will, IMO, affect all of N GA... maybe the whole state.

Couple of articles sent to me this morning...
Worth the read:

https://www.reporternewspapers.net/...-skeptical-of-toll-lane-interchange-proposal/

Note that I do not live close to the land in the second article, it is not in my back yard... thought the stuff about bus and toll roads was interesting.

There are numerous links in the articles to other articles... interesting stuff about how TPTB are planning to deal with the traffic issue on the 'top end' of Atlanta.

I think Atlanta needed to deal with traffic and freeways 40 years ago when there was open land. Better engineering of roads needs to happen to move the present and future traffic.

However, I don't know that I trust GDOT. Remember your favorite crook Jerry Shearin sits on GDOT...

Yeah, that guy that brought you the airport and appointed the idiot Blake Swofford to oversee it because, "Blake like to sit by the Atlanta airport and watch planes take off." (I shit you not, I listened to Shearin say that at a public introduction of Swofford!) The Same blake Swafford who forgot to put potable water (clean drinking water) to the airfield, or a fueling center so when planes landed they could re-fuel... duh... cost the citizens lots of money to fix those mistakes.

Former Paulding County Commission chairman Jerry Shearin on Wednesday was elected to represent the 14th Congressional District on the State Transportation Board that governs the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Board members are elected by state senators and representatives whose legislative districts fall within all or part of the relevant congressional district. Shearin reportedly defeated Whitfield County Commission chairman Mike Babb in a close vote for the seat.

The good ol' boy system has served Shearin well....

I moved to Atlanta in 1990...
Heard about the 'northern belt' project that year...
And I see it is STILL not built yet.

The rumor I heard from the start...
Is the right guys do not own the land to sell it to the govt...
Grin!

I also remember that Gwinnett Cty used to let 'good-ol-boys' know which land was gonna be bought next year...
So buddies could buy it, then make a profit selling it to the country...
And Ms Shirley Lassiter, along with her son, who were on the country counsel... got caught taking bribes... and are in jail...
Wish that (getting caught in corruption and going to jail) would happen more in GA govt... :)
We really need a house-cleaning!

It does look like Speaker David Ralston may finally be in trouble over the deal where he postpones trials of folks he represents...
Indefinitely...

NIMBY will forever prevent the construction of a new freeway in metro Atlanta. Anyone who has driven SR 20 from Canton to Cumming or Buford knows how badly the north loop is needed. Even without south Fulton getting a vote, it still would never happen. People would rather fight traffic than see their homes over run by an expressway.

IMO...

The REAL problem was...
The right hands were not stroked with green...

Remember... this state is probably on the short list for the worst 'good-ol-boy' govt practices in the whole nation...
And as usual... the voters cannot seem to organize and do something about it.

If we ever did organize...
The establishment would be in orange jumpsuits...
However I am not holding my breath.
