A Pittsburgh woman was sentenced to two years probation on Tuesday for accidentally sitting on and smothering her infant granddaughter, authorities said.
Elane Springs, 50, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of children in the death of 1-month-old Tyjahe Springs on September 17, 2008.
Springs said she had been using a pillow to keep the baby from falling off the couch while she did housework, according to court documents.
