What do you all think about this sermon from the Pope a couple days ago?

What do you think? I am not trying to be rude, I promise, but lately I have noticed articles just being posted and asking what others think, yet not putting your (general you) own thoughts down. Just posting what I have noticed. :)

I didn't read the whole thing, but I can tell you what I think.
Among the several reasons I do not belong to any organized, or disorganized for that matter, religion is that by not belonging to one or another, I do not have to get upset over what one group or another group believes about God.

I can agree or disagree, change my opinion, keep it the same or whatever, about their beliefs, BUT, it does not bother me one way or another, in general.

I bolded the "in general" part because there are days when I feel that I am the person that needs to tell everyone what they should believe and what the should not believe and what is right with their religion and what is wrong with their religion.
Those days are not as numerous as they used to be, then considering that every day was one of "those days", how could they be.

Bottom line, when I am doing what I believe I should be doing (and that is iffy at any given moment) I am to busy working on myself and my relationship with God to get involved with another people's religion, one that I am not a part of.
I guess what I am trying to say is, since I am not Catholic, it is none of my business.

I do believe in a personal relationship with God and from what I understand from my wife's very Catholic family, so do they.

You are a pretty smart guy. (Not LTD smart, but who is? :)) )

I'll refrain from my opinion of the "sermon" out of respect for the Pope because I'm not a Catholic. I will say this though, based on years of personal experience I find that "life" goes smoother when we are active church members. We recently spent 2-3 years searching for a new church family after making the difficult decision to leave our former. If wasn't easy to to but it was time and both the Queen and I knew it. We were absolutely miserable when we had no church family and the search for a new one was frustrating and in some ways very disappointing. We finally found our "new" church and are now both very happy. It is much like our former church, at least in the ways we liked it. Personally I feel more complete now and am thoroughly enjoying being active in choir again (even though those who sit near me are probably not enjoying it). Which brings me to another topic, but I'll add it anyway, someone we know (possibly GD) is doing a solo soon and sounded great when he was practicing.

Exactly.

Besides, now that the wife has rejoined the cult......uhhhhhhh.....I mean going back to the Catholic Church on Sundays :) , I have to watch my mouth.

(I would have made this joke about whatever domination she was attending, one good thing about being a non joiner is you can joke about all of them)

Ohhh crap, I typed "domination" by mistake, instead of denomination
Hmmm, maybe it isn't as far off as I thought. :)

I didn't put my disclaimer in for you particularly, I try to always do that after making a joke about one of the mainstream religious organizations.
People's religion is as personal a thing as you can get without talking about their family and I always want them to know, I really do respect their beliefs.
(again, the main religions)

I just read through it quickly and it sounds like the gist of it is says that being part of a church family is important to believers. I don't disagree with that at all. In fact, I agree that it is a very important part of our relationship with Christ - loving others as Christ loves us.
