What did you do for a living before doing...

...what you do now. For housewives and SAHM's, before you became that.

Me...Lots of stuff. I worked in (no particular order);

Restaurant, including management and supervision.
Plumbing
Electrical
Male gigolo (hey, a guy can dream, can't he?)
Machine operator in a yarn mill
Warehouseman
Shipping clerk
Car audio installer
Alarm systems installer

All I can think of for now

Before I was a mom, and even for a little while after, I worked as a barista at Starbucks. The only other jobs I have had are Baskin Robbins, the sports store on Camp Pendleton, an in home daycare for 2 little girls and a tester, kind of like a secret shopper. Currently, aside from being a stay at home mom, I work customer service from home.

In reverse order:

Owned and operated a computer repair and sales business in Hiram, also started a marketing/advertising and graphic arts company with a partner.

Deputy Sheriff with Cobb SO (yes, with GC but different divisions)

Automotive parts, retail and dealerships. Plus a part time mechanic.

Maintenance Department at Sears - Southlake mall

I think that is all.

It is cool. I don't make a ton of money, minimum wage, but I get to go to all school functions and if I get a call from school about a sick kid, I can drop my hours and go get them.

Some things are more important than money. I sacrificed a lot of extra income when raising my daughter too, so I could be home at night and at various functions on weekends. But I don't regret a bit of it.

Waitress
Bartender
Window Washer
Receptionist
Cashier
Daycare Worker
Preschool Teacher
Family Counselor
Warehouse Supervisor
Media Analyst

And the very best job of all... Mommy.

I have always worked in an office in Customer Service.
I worked at Kmart when I was 16 till I was 18

I'm a legal secretary and after 22 years at the same law firm, I still LOVE what I do.

My former jobs (starting from my first job):

Lifeguard for two summers while in high school.
Waitress for one week - I quit, I wasn't good with customers, serving food, or sharing my tips.
Rich's, worked at the Clinique counter for about 2 weeks before the store manager "suggested" that I get out of customer service.
File Clerk - easy job while I was in college.
Receptionist/Secretary for an ambulance chaser who swore he would never resort to advertising on TV (he now works for the "one call" guy).

Let's see...

1979-1982 High Pressure Fiber Restoration (Carpert Cleaner) :laugh My own businesses. First was Captain Steamer in Chattanooga, then Superior Steam Inc. in Atlanta (almost wish I was still doing it) :'(

1977-1979 Commodities Packaging (Bag Boy) :laugh Two different and fine retail food outlets...The Super Duper in Circleville, Ohio and Red Foods in Chattanooga, TN.

Dance teacher/Studio owner! That's cool. My middle daughter is a pre-professional right now, and she would like to become a dance teacher and maybe own a studio some day.

Come to think of it, I've heard people use that as an example of an oxymoron.

Before being a SAHM, I was:

A graphic artist at a magazine

An administrative supervisor at a university graduate business school dept.
