Well, we can't sing 'Jingle Bells' anymore

You know how a word completely loses any meaning or weight when it's casually thrown around. That.

I have sang that song with a lot of black folks throughout my life. It's a shame we now live in a time where people are so easily offended and want to make race an issue about everything. I have seen black activists make the claim before that "White Christmas" is a racist thing, but this is the first time I have heard "Jingle Bells" was racist.

"White Christmas" is about having snow on the ground for Christmas. How the hell can some idiot think it means Christmas is only for white people? Jingle Bells is racist because some white people sang it while in black face? Sheesh.

There was an article last year about her paper. I didn't care then and I do not care now if her belief is that it is racist. It is catchy, children and adults love the song, and it is tradition. Who even tries to find issue with a beloved Christmas song?

People who like to keep crap stirred up.

This shows how picking at a scab to keep racism relevant is starting to become irrelevant ... how much do you have to stretch to find something people might be offended by. :whistle: :dunno:

“Jingle Bells
batman smells Robin laid an egg
the batmobile lost a wheel
and joker joined ballet
Hey!

Jingle Bells, Batman smells
Robin laid an egg,
Oh what fun it is to ride
in a beat up Chevrolet.

Dashing through the snow
On a pair of broken skis
Through the fields we go
Crashing into trees
My face is turning red
I think I'm almost dead
I woke up in the hospital with stitches in my head

Batman’s in the kitchen,
Robin’s in the hall,
Joker’s in the bathroom
peeing on the wall.
Penguin’s on the potty,
His arms too short to wipe,
Catwoman’s in the litter box
And the Riddler smokes a pipe.
O, Jingle bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg,
The Batmobile lost a wheel and the Joker got away!

Jingle Hell

Jingle bells, Santa smells,
The reindeers flew away;
The elves are sick
The snow is thick:
We all hate Christmas Day.

Jingle Bells, the turkey smells,
The stuffing's thick and grey;
The sprouts are old,
The sauce is cold:
We all hate Christmas Day.

Jingle Bells, the rector smells,
The curate he looks gay;
The church bell rings,
The choir sings:
We all hate Christmas Day.

Jingle bells, Granddad smells,
Grandma wants her way,
Dad is mad,
Mum is sad:
We all hate Christmas Day.

How can a song be racist just because someone once sung it in blackface. That isn't even the least bit logical. But the left is lined up looking like dashboard bobbleheads on a bad dirt road.

HOMOPHOBE!!!! kidding

I guarantee kids who sang that in the 70's did not have a clue about "homosexuals" ... Robin was not very manly in those TV shows, however I don't know that we knew what a gay man was ... gay meant something entirely different. Life was much more innocent.

When that verse started men did not make out with men on the TV. Girls did not date girls on the TV shows. I don't know if there was even the word "homophobe'.:gayflag:

I think saying the Joker joined ballet was fun to sing and a put down to Joker... another verse I remember was Joker broke his leg... but that was not as funny.

If Jingle Bells is a racist song, I am sure we could say the joker version is homophobic.:thumbsup:
