We Really Do Judge Based on Appearance

A Photographer in England has a hobby of photographing himself with different looks. He might be a soldier, a Hasidic Jew, a cowboy, a businessman, a welfare case, or whatever.

What struck me about these pictures was how I got a totally different reaction to each one. I really do make an instant judgement based on appearance!

He made that very interesting. I'm the same way and I think we all are if we are honest. I believe we all recognize it's a fact or no one would wear their best Sunday-go-to-meeting outfit for a job interview. 8)

Wow, what an amazing conglomeration of self portraits.

GC, yea I wouldn't dare hire "the him" in some of those shots!! :D

Very interesting. Some of those shots are just  and a couple are rather hawt. It's true we make misjudgements on how a person looks. Sad, Sad, Sad

You are right. We all make an initial judgement of someone based on their looks, outfit, situation. I have been know to change my thoughts after getting to know someone, but I do not think it is possible to not judge at initial sight or meeting. :dunno

you do notice a persons "looks" before anything, before they open their mouth, before the introduce themselves.

another site that we all make fun is is proof of that ( people of walmart)

It is so amazing what a a comb, clean clothes and make up can do for someone

It's just our nature to do so. It might not be fair, but it is human.

It's only by our intellect that we can try and make allowances for our prejudices.

This isn't just a boy-girl thing either. I have seen other studies done for HR and Sales firms that say pretty much the same thing. It's no accident that the highest earning sales people are almost always attractive.

i guess I am not a high earner... sniffle
Sadie!
