Taking in 1million immigrants a year from undeveloped nations does absolutely nothing to help those countries economically. In fact, it creates a burden not only for our infrastructure, but our economy as well. We have approximately 14 million illegal immigrants in our country today; most of them from Mexico. They are putting a strain on our infrastructure as well as our economy, not to mention their increas to the national deficit and debt.

I've seen in the miltiary where they promote somebody who doesn't deserve it because they think maybe the promotion will make them improve. It's flawed logic and it's the same flawed logic the Dems are using by thinking allowing all the illegal immigrants to stay and increasing the amount of legal immigrants will help to improve the economies of the countries they come from. Not to mention they also think we'll be better off as a nation having them.

But Fox, you are not looking at it the same way as them left wing liberal Dem's do. All they see are votes! Votes to keep them in office and the power!

You're correct Winchester; it's all about the Dems wanting to be the majority in Congress and having too much control over our lives.

To over-simplify, it really is the ole give a man a fish/teach a man to fish theory. Such a small percentage of the immigrants are sending anything but money back. Very few are coming here to learn and then taking those skills back. (I didn't watch the video yet, just making a generalized comment that I'm assuming is germane)

I can't watch it rightn ow either, but I agree with you. MrB and I talked about this when PiBO gave the SOTU address and brought this up.

If we keep doing it, how long before we become like the third world county they left. We can't keep importing poverty and taking care of the folks coming here without draining the resources of the USA to the point of collapse.

Look at it his way. When we allow doctors from third world countries to immigrate to our country to seek permanent residence, we are actually hurting the people of that country.

LOL, ObamaCare will fix that issue real quick!

We have thousands of doctors in this country who immigrated here from third world nations to go to medical school that our government helped pay for with the intent they return to their countries to provide medical care. Yet, at the same time, our government allowed them to apply for citizenship and stay defeating the purpose.

Exactly. I'm not sure what the best answer is but bringing them here and giving them the education then giving them permission to stay here is doing nothing to help the people they supposedly wanted to help in the first place. Unfortunately, it isn't cost effective to set up that type of training in 3rd world countries, not anywhere near the level that we have here. So what's the answer? Part of me says as a human being we should do what we can. But the taxpayer part of me says there's only so much that we can do and we have our own problems that need to be addressed first.

I believe the way to help these people more effectively is through churches and charity organizations. These are all funded through donations and love offerings and have a tendency to actually provide care and help to the people themselves; whereas the money our government gives their governments never seems to get to the people in the form of the aid it was intended to. It seems most of our foreign aid is kept by the government officials in those poor countries to increase their personal wealth.

I agree with you. I am looking at the unemployment rolls we have here right now and I just heard that immigrants have a high rate of employment in America (don't know how many are illegal). So how does that help Americans who are unemployed get the jobs that are available.
