The DNC has chosen Charlotte, NC as the location for their national convention in 2012. Because there are no union hotels in Charlotte, the union wants the convention held elsewhere. NC is the least union state in the country as well. The DNC chose Charlotte for the convention site because Obama won there in '08 and they look at NC as a swing state.
The unions also objected when the DNC chose Denver for the '08 convention. There were no union hotels in that city, but they did manage to organize the employees of one hotel before the start of the convention.
I'm sure you will see the unions in Charlotte between now and the '12 convention attempting to organize hotel employees. NC is the least union friendly state in the country.
What I find interesting about this story is, the union is trying to direct the DNC into where they should hold their conventions, while the DNC is ignoring them on this. Just goes to show the Democrats only use the unions to get what they want.
