Highlighted words are the key. The other fellow is a businessman and retired Marine who was charged with espionage, probable due to once being a Marine... be that as it may, he was found guilty and sentenced to 16 years I think.
 
If I'm a country watching Russia get that arms dealer in a trade for Brittney Griner... I'm going to start putting Americans in prison after I spend extra time patting down every single American who crosses my border.

He's not a retired Marine. He was court-martialed and given a bad conduct discharge.
