Tennessee teachers step closer to carrying firearms in classroom after state lawmakers pass GOP-backed bill

Yeah, it shouldn't be needed but there are lots of crazies out there so this may help prevent some school shootings.

This is one of those I wish wasn't necessary because I'm not comfortable with it.

But the insanity in this country has made it necessary.
When we started the armed security team at our church, we didn't want others carrying guns there. The reason why is if an active shooter was in the church, those carrying don't have the training, and rounds could be going everywhere, which would compound the problem. The pastor informed everyone and invited them to join the security team and receive the training.

When someone in every row begins firing it quickly obstructs fields of fire. A recipe for disaster.

I feel like this is a step too far as it would be smarter and cheaper to have a policeman assigned to every school. What's going to happen when a student steals the teacher's handgun and then goes on to injure or kill someone else? Will the school be liable? What's going to happen when a teacher gets fired and goes on a shooting spree?

There are ways to secure schools so that nobody can force their way in. It wouldn't hurt to have at least four school resource officers at each school. The problem is this all costs money, and school districts are always going to find the cheapest way, which is also the least effective of those they reviewed.

It doesn't have to be every row.
Hopefully not, I was just using it as an example of what can happen if most church members were carrying then something happen which may require action. It could quickly get chaotic, especially if most were not trained…like you mentioned.

I understood.
