I know that some do not consider Stephen King to be high art... but the man has a definite gift for pop culture storytelling with a magnificent supernatural twist.
I do not read a whole lot of fiction, but when I do he is usually good for an interesting yarn.
I have been reading his books since I was 10 years old... but if you think you know his work
from the old horror classics, then you would be wrong and I invite you to take a second look.
A couple of years ago I started back after a long hiatus with Cell & Doctor Sleep.
Then I read Lisey's Story and 11/22/63. (IMHO these are the best work of his career...) Excellent brilliant grounded vivid storytelling.
Right now I am halfway thru my "Revival" Christmas gift and I am savoring every chapter... it reminds me a lot of the imagery in Stand By Me.
With a supernatural twist... 8)
