So we've never heard such words from a President before, huh?

The media and many politicians saying such stupid and ignorant things like that only demonstrates that the bulk of them are uneducated morons.

"They (Japan) can expect a reign of ruin from the air the likes of which has never been seen on this earth"

President Harry S. Truman
Democrat

It's interesting that you bring up Truman at this point,,, if he had dealt differently with Gen MacArthur, we probably wouldn't have this problem today,,, probably wouldn't have a divided Korea either!!!!!

Well we were already at war with Japan and had been for some time when we dropped the bombs, so there's that glaring difference. He is also reading from a carefully prepared statement, not giving off the cuff remarks to the press.

I agree, war had been declared and casualties already taken. Saying that, I really don't think it makes a lot of difference now because the little rogue nation isn't going to respond positively to civil diplomacy or even verbal threats. Sitting on our hands another 30 years isn't the answer either. Buckle up and get ready for the ride.....the drum beats are sounding.

So, it would have been ok if the remarks had been on a teleprompter? The thug needed to be told and he was....by a man with backbone, not someone reading a script.

It would have been OK if he had carefully considered and discussed a critical piece of national defense policy with his advisers before issuing a schoolyard challenge to a madman.

I heard it reported that he did. I guess we'll never know for sure...
