Color me unimpressed. It *might* work for very low power needs, but seems like it would quickly run out of carbon. THe picture shows the soil as mud, would it work at all during dry season?

I just love how the greenies are marching out old ideas as *new* and *improved*. Its' a heat sink.

Heat storage in mass has been part of solar heading systems since the 70s or before. Dad had one planned for out house built in 1980 using water filled tubes.

Got that right, at least if bought by the bag. I bought two scoops of bulk "compost" soil for $98 which saved me quite a bit.

I had some trees come down a few years ago. What went through the wood shredder remained in one large pile. I checked on it a couple of weeks ago and it's like black soil.

I spread two truckloads of chips on my front island several years ago. Where it didn't wash off is now looking like very nice topsoil.

I've managed to get half of the 100 pine straw bales I bought spread, whew, that's like real work for a old guy like me.
