They want to get some momentum such that he looks like a masterful strategist from the git go.

You want to hear something funny? It's not "haha" funny though. The vaccine was created in two days. The rest of the time from February until now was testing and government approvals. That's how big of a game changer mRNA is.

I really think there will come a time in the future when lab created vaccines will include an already approved "column a, column b" list of buffers and preservatives, and the mechanisms for creating the mRNA will be pre-approved. Then you will have something much more like our current food inspection program for quality control. This would mean a full response to an outbreak of any viral disease in days, not months or years.
