I need to talk with you. There seems to be a broken hinge on my laptop screen.

My Dad (who doesn't even know how to turn any computer on BTW) keeps saying I should stop repairing this thing (it's 6 years old) but I love it!

So far I've replaced the hard drive, keyboard (both warranty repairs (but not the recovery when the TECH from Dell fried the hard drive replacing the keyboard), the screen and upgraded the memory (although that needs to happen again). The battery gave out a long time ago. LOL

I will give C'PC a thumbs up. He has already helped my wife on several different computer issues. Fixed 2 and we bought one for our youngest.

I had no idea. Who is your wife?

You have a model number? I can get you a price. Sometimes hinges are dirt cheap. I've paid as little as 99 cents for one before.

It's a Dell Inspiron 6000

I actually have some of those hinges. Your out the door cost(assuming it's just the hinge and no plastic parts) would be $45.

Okay, that'd be great. It's getting worse and I'm worried I'm going to completely ruin it. I've replaced one memory chip, could you upgrade the other one while you have it?

Sure could. Do you know how much you have in it now?

Um, it's not nice to ask the tough questions. :p

It had the original memory up until about a year ago. I changed one chip, but not both. So I still have one that's upgradeable. That's really all I know. :))
