Proposed 30% Insurance Increase

Here in NC but only three counties, one of which I live in. WTF? What is different from my regular homeowners policy that differ from those up the coast towards the north or those further inland? I already am required to pay a separate "wind & hail" policy as being in a known hurricane area, WHICH is 4x my regular homeowners.

Jeeze, the economy is tanked enough with folks trying to just barely make ends meet, and ontop of that I feel really sad for the elderly that are on a strict fixed income.

After Katrina, my in-laws' insurance skyrocketed. They lived in Destin. After that, coupled with being tired of packing up the house and evacuating they decided to move to TN.
