I am presuming that most are aware that the company, CelebScene, Inc., who put on the recent disastrous Chattahoochee River Country Music Festival in Carrolton, is now being investigated for not paying vendors, a copyright lawsuit and who knows what else.
I am also presuming that most are aware that this company was hired to "run the day to day operations" at our movie studio here in Paulding county.
To our county's credit, after the allegations and issues surfaced with the music festival, the county severed it's contract with CelebScene, Inc.
It is my understanding that the owners of CelebScene Inc. are Andy Turner and Jason Benson, who I gather have ties or are from our home county, Paulding. (apparently, one or both ran the Dallas Ghost Tour last year)
Now how is this county such as mess?
The backbiting; the name calling; the Jr high school, I hate you because you like them; the slander; the half truths; the doing background checks and taking things from court records, such as a divorce, and then gossiping and publishing these things out of context; all these things have reached a new low.
Some lowlife scumbag, has now started a Paulding county FB page devoted to uncovering "skeletons".
While I know none of the people mentioned on this FB page, I think it is so sad that people in this county are so scared of change and "new blood" in the county, that they have to resort to such tactics.
Apparently this page was started due to the recent events with the movie studio and the music festival and some people's reaction to those events.
I have made no secret of my friendship with Todd Pownell.
I went a couple of years rarely communicating with Todd, so I wouldn't say we are that close of friends, but we did spend a lot of time together when our kids were in band, so I think I do know what type of person he is.
We also shared some similar past life events and we did discuss those, so I know a little about his past, as he does mine.
Over the past few years when I have spoken with Todd about county issues, Todd has never once said any gossip about his "opponents" to me.
However, and while I am not a player in county politics by any stretch of the imagination, I have received countless messages about Todd from those who disagree with him.
Every one of those messages attacked his character and his personal life.
He has been accused of everything from infidelity, to misuse of funds, to being behind the alleged extortion of Mike Jones and more.
It is nothing short of disgusting, especially when I know for a fact that some of these slanderous comments are just not true.
They didn't know that I was involved and had the financial records for the incident where he was accused of misuse (actually embezzling) funds.
Hard to accuse someone of doing that to the person that handled the financial records after Todd left, not to mention that an independent auditor inspected the books, every month.
Ohhh, and who's idea was it to have an outside tax attorney audit the accounts every month?
Todd's. (lousy way to handle things if you plan on embezzling money)
Anyway, I am so sick and tired of this; he's my friend, so don't disagree with him; or I have prayed with him, he can't have done wrong; or my family has been here for X generations so I have a platinum citizenship here in Paulding; that I could throw up.
One last note, Todd and I disagree on the major issue dividing this county, the airport.
But it has never stopped us from discussing it or being friends or my thinking that he is a man of character.
We just disagree, that's all, no big deal.
