Captain Rhett Butler
Driving Instructor
I've lived in my home for over 3 decades and so much has changed. Many of the communities are becoming Section 8 and with that comes the increase in crime. From burglaries to drive by shootings, it seems as if violence and crime are on the upswing. We NEVER even go out after dark nowadays and I always pack heat just to go pump gas. There's racial tension in the air, you can feel it. Heck, I feel like a fish out of water when I go to the Hiram Wal-Mart. We prefer to drive out to Rockmart or go to the one over on Dallas Hwy.
With that being said, we've been looking to get out, maybe above Summerville, Ellijay, Chatsworth or even further up into Western North Carolina. Property is sky high right now, but I'm afraid if I wat too much longer, I'll be stuck here for good.
I get it, crime can happen anywhere, but this county is quickly changing and before long, it will be just like DeKalb, Clayton and Henry counties. That's my wake-up call.
