Movie Remakes

Shoes!!!!
What do you think of movie remakes? Here are a few coming out fairly soon.

'Red Dawn'
Attached: Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Status: Hemsworth ("Thor") headlines this updating of the 1984 Cold War classic, which this time around features an invasion from China rather than the Soviet Union. First-time director and former stuntman Dan Bradley has kept the rest of the premise intact, so expect to see plenty of heroics from America's youth as they lead a Midwestern resistance against our commie foes. This film was completed in 2009 and has been delayed several times by its struggling distributor, MGM; with Hemsworth becoming a star, though, it may finally see the light of dawn, so to speak.
Release Date/Year: November 21, 2012

Red Dawn Official Trailer #1 (2012) - Chris Hemsworth Movie HD

'Carrie'

Attached: Chloe Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore
Status: Back in 1976, audiences shivered at the sight of Sissy Spacek being doused with pig's blood by a-hole high school students and then taking her revenge through the therapeutic application of telekinesis. Considering how iconic that film has become in the annals of horror movies, remaking it will be a tall task, but MGM has taken a big step in the right direction by signing on "Kick-Ass" star Chloe Grace Moretz to play the lead. And the director is someone who knows a thing or two about the difficulties that face girls growing up these days; Kimberly Peirce, who directed "Boys Don't Cry," is helming the remake.
Release Date/Year: March 15, 2013

Carrie - Official Teaser | HD | Chloë Grace Moretz

'Annie'
Attached: Willow Smith
Status: Willow Smith is set to take on the role of a precocious girl with a knack for singing and a multi-millionaire daddy. Hmm. But Smith isn't the only big name attached to the remake of the 1982 hit (which was based on a musical, which was based on a comic strip, which was based on ur mom); not only is her father, Will Smith, co-producing alongside Jay-Z, but Emma Thompson is also on board as the original screenwriter, though rewrites have since been ordered. Sounds like a winner.
Release Date/Year: 2013

I have watched Red Dawn no less than 20 times. I can't imagine I will like this one more. :(
Carrie!!! Who could replace Sissy and those eyes?
Annie=Willow Smith? :dunno

So has Hollyweird officially run out of ideas? So many remakes in recent years.

Son was reading off a list to me. There were about 50 of them! I just did the first few. You have to be right about them running out of ideas. They are also going to remake Pet Sematary (NO THANKS, first one was scary enough) and Dirty Dancing!!!!!!!!! Seriously, Dirty Dancing. :rant

As a general rule, remakes suck.

Ditto. Prime exception, however, is An Affair to Remember. It was a remake (using the exact script and screen shots) of 1939's Love Affair with Charles Boyer and Irene Dunn. Original wasn't bad, it just wasn't nearly as awesome. The remake of the remake, which went back to the original title of Love Affair with Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, left much to be desired.

SD - I did not have you pictured as a Red Dawn fan!!! I love that movie!!! I'd rather see a remake of this than Carrie, and the Annie sounds icky. Willow Smith? Really?

Are they going to put a red, curly haired wig on Willow Smith? The first time I watched Red Dawn, it scared me. Those danged Russians. Never watched it again. I can't imagine, with all the high tech stuff now, that Carrie could be as scary the second ime around.

No, Dirty Dancing should not be re-made. :girlsaysno

However, I was worried about a remake of Footloose and then actually thought they did a good job with the remake.

;D Swayze, Sheen, Thompson, Howell and Grey, what couldn't you love? :))

It's not just movies that are being redone, but music as well.

I really liked the remake of Footloose (although, Kenny couldn't touch Kevin Bacon!)

The Red Dawn remake looks really good. I like that they changed it to make it relevant to today. It looks like the premise is really the only thing that's the same. That, and....WOLVERINES!

I can't tell you how many times I watched Red Dawn. And y'all know "scary" movies don't scare me. But that one shook me to the core. Probably because like so many in our generation, I couldn't imagine anything worse than the Russians attacking.

One more remake I really liked: Sabrina. :love

10-4. I need to watch it again soon.

I don't like most remakes. I do like the first two "Little Women" but not the last one that came out a few years ago. :)
