It turns out Facebook is good for something after all. Tonight I got a message from a student I taught many years ago. I'm thinking it was 8 or 9 years ago? He was quite a behavior issue in my class (actually all classes: I wasn't special). Anyway, he found me through a facebook friend and sent me a message. I'm quoting it because it was such a surprise.

Hi,
Tonight I met up with some high school friends and we started talking about the old days. Made me think back to your classes and how tough we thought they were. I would just like to say thank you. At the time I thought you were trying to make us fail. After 5 years of college I realized you were just preparing us to succeed. I can honestly say you we're the best teacher I have ever had. You took the time to help us understand what you were teaching, a quality I did not see in college. Your a great teacher and should be proud of what you do!
