If it moves, tax it

Gavin Newsom is a nightmare... It's going to be a rough ride with him at the helm... Conservative people were tired of wacky loon Jerry Brown. Where I live is conservative, but there are not enough of us.

Sounds like conservatives for the state range around 31%. Most have fled, however the constant influx of refugees and illegals will cause that percentage to become smaller. California will never be a conservative state again. San Diego, which up until 1990 was a conservative city, will also never be conservative.

Ironically, I have two cousins who plan on moving to Reno Nevada to retire. The University professor and her University professor husband vote 100% liberal. They have both taken new positions at the University in Reno because they are close to retirement and they know their money will go further.

My other cousin born, raised, and has lived her whole life in San Jose, will also be moving to Reno once she retires. She is a little more conservative than liberal, but explained to me that Californians are compassionate and truly want to help their fellow citizens so even though Californians support these stupid programs that encourage illegals and a nanny state, it is done out of compassion, and she likes that about the citizens.

The funny thing is that neither of my cousins knew the other had planned to move to Reno. Yet they know their retirement money won't go very far in California, and Reno is supposed to have a nice lifestyle... it will be the next city ruined by Californians.

I love being back in my hometown... San Diego is a beautiful city. It is just too bad it has changed so much from the massive amounts of people who have come across the border over the last 50 years. You see this problem California has is not new... my whole life the refugees and illegal immigrants that have poured into the city have dramatically impacted the city and used up resources.

It also means all these people come from countries where governments are corrupt and socialist... they know nothing more, and expect the same. They will vote for every democrat who offers them a better life of freebees. Their children are educated in the liberal California schools and do not question the progressive ideologies they are trained in, and the welfare they grow up receiving. We have 50 years of progressively indoctrinated generations of citizens.

San Diego welcomes more refugees than any other California county

For nearly a decade, no California county has received more refugees than San Diego County, followed by Los Angeles and Sacramento counties, according to state and federal data. A large number of refugees are assigned to San Diego because of the concentration of four resettlement agencies and the existence of several rooted immigrant communities already in the area It’s a trend that dates back to the Vietnam War, when hundreds of thousands of Southeast Asians landed at Camp Pendleton for U.S. resettlement. Many stayed, helping make the area a beacon for people fleeing from violence, hunger and instability.

“San Diego historically has been a very welcoming county,” said David Murphy, executive director of the International Rescue Committee there that resettled Namagazuzyo’s family and hosted the English class. “There is now a vibrant multi-cultural population living in San Diego.”

Typical democrat Californian....

Boo hoo... listen to these cry babies... Democrats....

‘The federal government really jacked us’: How Trump’s tax cuts are working out for Californians

The financial hit came with political bruises for Jarvis, a 45-year-old Democrat who disliked how the Republican plan slashed taxes for corporations and people making a lot more than he does.
<snip>

“The federal government really jacked us,” he said. “I don’t have a problem with my tax dollars going toward education, homelessness, I’m in favor of all that. But a tax cut for billionaires off my back? That’s too much.” Really? So now when he can blame Trump high taxes (unlike his high California property taxes) now high taxes bother him?
<snip>

While millions of California families saw their federal taxes fall this tax season, the Jarvis family is among an estimated 1 million households who are paying more—actually some $12 billion more, according to the Franchise Tax Board. That’s because the cap on state and local tax (SALT) deductions disproportionately impacted progressive states with high taxes by limiting the amount residents used to be able to deduct from their federal filings.
<snip>

California ranks 10th in overall taxation and has the highest personal income tax rate at 13.3% for millionaires.
<snip>

The Jarvis family is typical of this band of people who feel middle class even if they don’t fit the description of middle class. Last year, the Pew Research Center pinpointed the middle of the middle class as $78,442 for a household of three.
<snip>

By comparison, Jarvis and his wife, Jun, a buyer for a tool importing company, made a combined $125,000 last year. They have an 800-square-foot home in Inglewood to be close to Jarvis’ work at Loyola Marymount University.

Still, they are on a budget.

“The tax changes hurt us,” said Jarvis. “Between mortgage, child care, paying off student loans, the credit cards. Look, there’s plenty of people in this state who are way worse off than we are, but that money mattered.”

Why anyone would put up with that crap is beyond my level of understanding.
I have friends who work for the SFO office of a company I used to do work for. Of the six guys I knew fairly well, three families have left the state in the last three years or so. Two of the three are natives and left a lot of extended family behind.

None of these guys are "rich". They made barely six figures in San Francisco. One guy took a job in Orlando and says that at $80k per year he is living much better than he could in San Fran at $110k. He owns his first house and he is in his late 40's. I've been trying to get the whole bunch to move here and start another company for 20 years.

I would guess many have lived there most of their lives and drunk the cool-aid and don't really understand how taxed they are compared to other states to pay for that crap.

Others truly believe that the government is using their money to better their fellow man. <snort>
