I stand with Scott Walker on FB

Are any of you from Wisconsin? I'm from the Madison area and have been caught in the middle of the insanity of the last few weeks. Watching closely to see how it turns out ... the loudest public opinions have been ... well... loud ... and really pretty darn nasty.

I am about out of energy for listening to people who are applauding legislators for walking off the job and holding up the democratic process.

I'm not from Wisconsin but my parents lived there for a long time. They had a cabin in Two Creeks for years then moved up there in 1994. I grew up in the Chicago area..............I got back to the South as soon as I was able. Been in Georgia since '83. I understand the mindset of all those "union" government dependent folks up there. The ones that ran most manufacturing jobs to other countries.

Keeping Faith, I just can't imagine living through all that. I truly admire the stand Scott Walker has taken, he seems like a good strong leader.

@naturegirl... The craziness factor around here is wearing me out. I work in human services in Madison, and for the most part I am surrounded by people who want to recall Walker and who are practically worshipping the 14 Dems who flew the coop.

One of my best friends seriously makes about 20 or more Facebook status updates a day, all of them slamming the evil Scott Walker, the evil Republicans, the evil wealthy, etc. Most of the people I cross paths with in daily life are completely on board with that sentiment.

It is interesting because here locally, supporters of Scott Walker are being very quiet. There are two people in my office who have very tentatively said things to me indicating they support his overall plan (minus maybe a few details), and when they find out that I agree, we have ended up in literally whispered conversations in my office. That is the local climate.

I don't know how it will all pan out. I hope Walker stands firm, but I have to tell you, it will take an extraordinary person to stand up against the assault. I also am worried about the fracturing of relationships in Wisconsin. This has been an extremely divisive time, and I don't think there is any middle ground that will be healing. It seems like an inevitably hard road ahead.

Not diggin' it.
