Would somebody please explain Blu-Ray to me?

It's a higher quality format that regular DVD. You need a Blu-Ray player and Blu-Ray DVD, and a true high def TV to take advantage of it. Connections must be HDMI or component video. The picture is noticeably better than a regular DVD.

This the Sony thing that won the battle over Toshiba's HD-DVD?

Yes

But it won't be the final answer either. Something better will come out in a few years.

The 3D movies I go on about are also Blu-ray.

I'm curious, what initiated the question on what Blu-Ray is?

FYI ... don't forget you need an HD monitor/display/tv to see it. And the HDMI cables.

Unless you have a Blu-ray laptop. You can watch the movie right from there. ;)

Sorry SD, I just can't bring myself to watch a movie on my laptop unless I am crammed into an airline seat.

If I'm watching a Blu-Ray movie, I want to be on a comfy couch with my surround system on with the remote in my hands.

LOL. :))
I don't care either way. If the boys and I all want to watch the same movie I will go down and watch it on the big tv with the surround sound, if not I will just pop it in my computer and watch. :dunno
Why do you need a remote in your hand for a movie?

Hey, I'm a guy!

:taunt

Seriously .... some parts of movies bore me to tears. And I tend to fast forward during those parts.

Plus, I LOVE to play with the extras. Deleted scenes, etc., that are on the disc.

I like to see the extras too. My remote may not be in my hand, but it is very close by. :thumbsup

I was reading something else about some movie or other and they were watching it in Blu-Ray, and I couldn't remember that what that is. I'm a Luddite when it comes to AV stuff. :soashamed
