I keep getting this message

I know we aren't dealing in national secrets here, but I thought pretty much everything had gone to SSL.
Hey, we low budget here!

I dunno about this site, but Godaddy leaned all over me to go to SSL on my company websites. And they want a BUNCH of money to do so. Like $1200 each! Ain't happening just yet.

Ignore my last post. I'll get you some SSL certs for the low price of only $1000/site. :D

Wut? What were they charging that much for? You can get an SSL cert for less than $10/year. Heck, there are even some free ones available now.
It didn't sound right to me either, so I basically told the guy to screw off.

Yeah if you want a cert it is best to get it from a reputable site and can be pricey. But the real issue is that the hosting providers require you to have a static IP to have an SSL cert and they charge more to have a static IP. If we were selling stuff here, I think SSL would make sense.

Wow, I'm amazed they charge that much extra. Sounds like they lure folks with a rock bottom price and then get them with the up charges.

I think prices will fall. They jumped on it at first to use it as a scare tactic to sell people on it.
