How old were you when you got your driver\'s license??

Learners on my 15th birthday, and I drove to school legally on my 16th. I didn't even wait until after school.

Yep, me too! I had ants in my pants and had to get going!

My dad told me well ahead of time that if I wanted to drive, I'd better buy a car because I wasn't driving his. So I went to work when I was 15 and saved enough to buy a car and pay 6 months of insurance. So yeah, I was ready to roll.

It was an old GA power work truck, 66 chevy stepside with a 4-speed on the floor, 1st gear was a "granny gear" but would make that truck climb any hill it could get traction on. My dad did get it painted and I built a 283 small block and fixed the interior. I miss that old truck! People still ask me about it.

As some of you know I built and raced Dune Buggies starting at age 15. One day we skipped school and decided to drive one of the dune buggies to the beach to horse around. Yup, passed my dad on the street on the way. i was grounded for a month.

When I passed all of the test for my CDL, the instructor said now I am licensed to drive anything as long as it doesn't have wings.

I had a "class 3" before the CDL came out. And I almost had Cobb Co pay for me to get the CDL but I got a transfer about that time and was no longer need to drive the jail bus.
