Hey Hey I Was A Monkee

Very sad. I spent some good times on the floor in a family room watching that show with my friends. Peter was actually a musician when he was hired, although not an acompished one. He was Stephen Stills' roommate.
 
The Monkees actually produced some very good songs, despite their lack of training and experience. If memory serves at least two of them were not singers or musicians at all, they were mostly hired to play the rolls. Davy Jones did have somewhat of a singing career prior to the Monkees, and he was to be the front man and pretty boy. He seemed to get most of the credit and fame. But surprisingly, the real singer in the group turned out to be Micky Dolenz. If you go through their string of hits, he was the lead singer in most of them.
