I was expecting this. They announced a while back that they had a very good result.

Now where's my fission fusion (oops) energy. Then Obama and his environmental wackos can kiss my arse.

This really tells them that they are on the right track to the next level of physics. The particle itself is really mostly important because it exists, and it's existence was predicted by current theories. It's the missing piece of the Standard Model puzzle. It's an important step toward fusion energy too, but for now it's a big thumbs up for the math guys. It's money well spent.
