Georgia State Trooper killed in the line of duty

So sad. Thought we would get to the end of the year without having to add anymore names to the officers killed in the line of duty in Georgia (or anywhere for that matter). Please keep this officers family in your prayers. This trooper will be honered along with 7 other officers April 16, 2011 during the Georgia Police Memorial ride. If you would like to attend the ride or help in any way please contact me as I am a sponsor for the event along with C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors)

I'm a former LEO and news like this for me is especially sad. The family will be in our prayers.

I was notified at 2 AM by his cousin who is one of my sergeants on evening watch. My heart goes out to his family. We'll find out final arrangments maybe later tonight, but we're thinking the funeral will be on Friday. I plan on riding up to his families home later this evening and expressing my concolences to the Troopers who are standing guard at his house. They are present to show respect and keep the nosey types away.

Me too. And it doesn't matter how long you have been out of job, when you hear news like this it just tears me up.

I don't know if you recall or not, but while Clinton was president he asked for and got a bill he signed into law that made it a federal capital offense when someone killed a LEO during the performance of their duties. It made Clinton sound tough on crime, but in reality, not one single person who has killed a LEO afterwards has ever been charged and tried in a federal court for such a crime. The AG's office lets the local prosecutors handle it under state laws, which in most states there is no capital punishment. Clinton knew the AG's office would never take a such a case away from local prosecution.

A couple of us have changed our avatars on FB to the GSP shield with his badge number on it.
Prayers for his family and all of the GSP family.

That's a real nice gesture. I know the family would appreciate it. I'll be at the funeral home at 6 PM to pay my respects. It's going to be a humdinger of a funeral tomorrow.

If you kill an officer, your punishment should automatically be death by public hanging. No if's, and's, or but's.

And the idiot attorney pleads "not guilty" on the slimes behalf. Read my lips..."IT'S ON CLEAR VIDEO, MORON"!

I wouldn't mind being a prosecuter, but no defense attorney. I'd have to tell that scum to either plead guilty and take responsibility LIKE A MAN for once, or get another attorney.

I got back from the funeral home about 20 minutes ago and there was a real fine showing of GSP, Cobb PD, Marietta PD and Cobb SO officers. I'm pretty sure I caught a glimpse of a few other agencies represented, like PCSO and a few other city police officers.

The troopers were standing tall and looking professional, as usual. Those flat brimmed hats were straight and sharp. I was simply proud to stand among them for a short time. I imagine the news will cover portions of the funeral.

You know, it's not as if an officer is better than anyone else, or more important. I hope no one thinks we view it that way. The "news" about incidents of this type are mainly due to the evil out there and how so many in our society have absolutely NO respect for authority of any kind. Their parents, law enforcement and most of all, God above.

People like to talk about police misconduct, and it does exist, but officers don't stop vehicles and murder people! And do you know what makes these incidents continue? The FAILURE of society to DEMAND that people like this criminal be put to death. YOU WATCH, if Fulton County drags this case along like SO many others, they'll either end up with a plea to do life w/o parole or the guy will get less from a jury of delusional idiots who believe the dung shoveled by his attorney.

I better hush now. Y'all have a wonderful evening. 8)

Great post, thank you for what you do. I was pressed for time tonight but made a point of riding by to show my respect.

Tow was at the funeral...came home proud of his brothers but sad for the loss. As the wife of an LEO, I cannot imagine what Trooper LeCroy's family is going through :( It is so sad :(

And we thank you and all of those who support the law enforcement mission. I know your father contributed to that mission and I know you are proud. Anyone who abides by the law and respects others contributes to that mission every day. Nothing more can be asked or expected. 8)
