What? Has it become Death Road? Sheeesh!

Last week two lanes were closed due to a car fire....now I get a message about another wreck and gas leak. It wasn't that long ago that a wreck caused power lines to fall and close traffic in both directions. I'm about to tell Daughter Colson she's no longer allowed to drive on it. :huh

It's a terrible road. I never liked having to drive on it.

I just received the text. It is horrible on that road.

Yes it is horrible! I drive it every single day and it seems there is always something going on.
I saw that car fire the other day..that poor car looked horrible!

I absolutely HATE the intersection of Bill Carruth and Hiram Sudie...people drive in that area like crazy people. Just the other day I was sitting at the light there and was headed west on Hiram Sudie. The light for Bill Carruth side was green...this truck was flying down Bill Carruth toward 92 and when he went flying through the light he literally was flying..I swear his tires came off the road. I proceed through that intersection with caution every time.

Since I never see anything that bad, and I don't mind driving HSR, does that mean I'm THAT driver?

I was busy during the initial call with the scanner muted, so I didn't hear all of the first traffic. I do know they're working with one patient.

Maybe that should be where the speed traps driver's re-education programs should be set up instead of Carruth.

:snick_bunny I thought that myself!
Seriously though I do wish they would do something on that road.

Seriously though I do wish they would do something on that road.

It does beg the question why they do it on a relatively safe road versus one like this?

It depends on whether or not the state has surveyed the road, and put it on the county's permit to run radar. Cops can't run radar on a road, if the road isn't listed on the permit.

Because the Water Dept. gives them a convenient place to stop to write the tickets...

My point is...what is driving the decision as to where to patrol? If it's really all about public safety, then there appears to be some inconsistencies.

I want to add...any insinuation on my part is not aimed at the good officers, more at the guys up the ladder.

If they out to catch speeders, then they can only patrol those roads specifically designated on their RADAR permit issued by the state. I've seen them watch the stop sign at the 4 way stop on Hiram Sudie, but that's about all I've seen them do on that road. That leads me to think that they can't patrol for speeding on that road due to it not being permitted.

Also incident reports play a part in this. A good chief/sheriff will monitor statistics of what the problem areas are in his jurisdiction and will have his officers out there working those roads. They can't tell them to get out there and write tickets, but they make it clear that certain roads need to be patrolled.

Sometimes citizens will make enough stink about certain roads/road conditions that will bring out the boys in blue. You get enough people calling and complaining about the speeding on a road, or a stop sign constantly being run, then you'll see more cops patrolling.

Well, this is the government we're talking about. Maybe they're tying the officer's hands too.

I'm guessing the driving decision behind is the fact that people fly down that Carruth.

I have no problem with the way things are on Darwin Hwy, oops, I mean Hiram-Sudie.

i have never had an issue driving it and never thought anything about it

I think drivers are getting worse and have more distractions now... I wonder how some even get there license
