GA Gun Purchase Requirements

I'm thinking about going out and buying a Glock 19. I have a S&W .40, but it's really too heavy to carry concealed. I just want to make sure I understand the law for purchasing. From my understanding, the gun store can do a background check over the internet or phone and I can purchase the gun that day. Is that correct?

hmm not sure about over the phone. But if you have your GWL, they skip the background check.

Whatcha getting?

Unless something comes up in your background check, you will be able to get it the same day.

I have two G32s. (compact .357 sig) and carry in a Crossbreed Super Tuck, just order my old lady the Mini Tuck for her Ruger LCP. Crossbreed is by far my favorite IWB holster. http://crossbreedholsters.com/ and Mike is a great guy.

There is no wait or background check for the purchase of a Super Soaker so go ahead and get one of those instead. :taunt

If you have your conceal carry permit already, purchasing the gun is easy. I think you still go to the probate court clerk in Paulding for the permit. They've eliminated the step of having to go to the sheriff's dept yourself to get background check. I'd take care of the permit step first then go purchase the gun.

We have always bought our guns without a wait, even before we got our conceal carry permits.

I bought a Glock 19 today in Gainesville and Jennifer bought a pink Walther .380. We filled out the forms and they called the info in and we walked out with them. I got her some Hydrashocks for ammo. That pink pistol of hers will pack a wallop.

LOL, the terms .380 and "pack a wallop" never go in the same sentence.

Just sayin
Ever see what a .380 hydrashock does to a 4x4 post at 10 yds? I'd hate to be the guy who takes one to the chest.

Ever seen a 10mm or a .45acp can do to a 4x4 post? hehe

But no, I have not seen or shot any hydrashock ammo. But if I buy another pistol, it will be a .45 acp. Cobb PD went thru the gambit of calipers until they settled on the .45 (last that I have heard, not sure they have changed again) because everything else just did not have the knock down power. Shooting a person (the whole reason we carry for protection) is a lot different then shooting a wooden post. If I have to shoot someone, I want to make sure they go down, stopping their aggression quickly.

Granted that even a .45 may not stop a drug crazed and pumped up attacker on the first shot, but it does stand a much better chance after the second tap to center mass. But dang they are heavy and hard to carry concealed.

The .45 can do some massive damage, but it's a difficult weapon for a woman to carry conceal and fire because of the weight.

Speaking of concealed - has your girlfriend seen the holster that you can attach to a bra?

Well you are not taking them out for lunch afterwards. If I need to shoot someone, I want them to stop what they are doing very quickly. Everything else is their problem! lol

Eh, I conceal carry my .45. It is a little heavy for a female and may be too difficult to chamber a round. MamaHog has shot my 9mm, my SKS and her.380 but she is too sissy to shoot my .45 or the 30-06.

Why that sissy girl! My woman loved shooting my brother's Ruger Blackhawk .44 Mag. But that one is a little hard to cary under my shirt with an 8" barrel.
