Free Healthcare for All....

I have a feeling the program will be cancelled before it starts in the last burrough. The cost will be too high; especially without raising taxes.

I guess this is more of the Liberal Math. Wonder what $100 million in services the City will stop to pay for this?

I note it's "not insurance". Insurance has a bunch of cost controls and negotiated discounts with signed providers. What will the pay rates been for this plan? Whatever the doctor says? Are their co-pays? Will the doctors accept the city's payments (whatever they are) as complete payment? Will they follow the Medicare guidelines which many doctors refuse to take as being too small already?

As usual for a Liberal announcement, high on feel good comments, short on facts.

The last of the article notes they have a shortage of doctors now, if they start trying to force doctors to take short payments they will drive the rest out of the city.

Unless there are added benefits to the "real" insurance plans vs this "not insurance" plan, I don't see why not. If you work, you're gonna end up taxed for this mess after all and then be paying twice. There is NO WAY this doesn't explode in costs to city.

Looks like I might have been right. He's really sucking up to the far left for something. This has to be a setup for a run for something. If nothing else, the election of Obama and Trump has trashed the idea that candidates have to have a strong background in government before running. He may figure the jump is possible from Mayor to President.

The third year of a presidency...
Is when the president gets the difficult stuff done!
Then the fourth year, the president can focus on making everyone feel good, so they will vote 'correctly'.
This will be a tuff year... for everyone.
 
I notice that NOBODY who promises nor wants free healthcare for everyone...
EVER discusses the quality of said free healthcare.

The track record of countries that provide it... is worse than dismal...
Waiting lists... poor quality care... death boards (you are too old and of no use to society, you do not get that procedure)... etc...

Naaaaah...
I will continue to go with the private system...
And take my chances affording it.

And notice how the government shutdown has not affected life of the average citizen.

Those nonessential employees, might do well to find a more essential job me thinks.

Wish it was cutting off the snap programs and other programs for those able bodies who choose not to avail themselves of a job.

After the furloughed folks have been out of work for 30 days (calendar days, not working days)...
They can be permanently let go...
It is called 'RIP'

And Pelosi and her far left DIMS are on vacation for a while... well past the 20th...

Now the left says this is not possible... says there are different kinds of furloughs...

If that's the law, he won't even have to declare a state of emergency.
