Driving across the midwest last week it was very clear that both
the corn and soybean crops have been destroyed by the drought.

(I have never seen such a sorry and scary harvest in all my life.)

In addition to soaring prices for staples at your local supermarket,

I heard there will be a few short weeks of cheaper beef, chicken and pork as farmers thin their herds because they will not be able to feed them. If you have a freezer, I suggest stocking up in the next couple of weeks, after that meat prices will also soar.
