The US Department of Justice quietly amended its execution protocols Friday, dropping the requirement to carry out federal death sentences by lethal injection and clearing the way to use other methods, including firing squads, poison gas, hanging and electrocution. The amended rule, published in the Federal Register, specifically allows the US government to conduct executions by lethal injection or use “any other manner prescribed by the law of the state in which the sentence was imposed.”

Previously, executions by the federal government only occurred in federal penitentiaries. However, the new rule change also allows for state facilities to carry out executions.

I’m not sure “poison gas” is a good choice, at least not for public perception. Personally I support the death penalty but since we now know the FBI leadership is corrupt it does make me at least question it more.

I think one of the big reasons was the shortage of chemicals. The manufacturers quit making and selling it on moral grounds. So if the Gooberment wants to execute someone, they just made sure they have options.

With the current ammo shortage the firing squad option is questionable too. How about Tide-pods?

I don't get the deal with the drugs. You can put someone to sleep with propofol and them give them a lethal dose of fentanyl or morphine. They aren't going to stop making those.
