Doing anything special for the eclipse?

Seen a few threads, but was curious if anyone was doing anything special?

hunkering down doesn't count ... lol

It is supposed to get crazy around here (Nashville). The totality path cuts right thru the area. There is supposed to be a huge LE presence, state patrol was looking to have an officer every 5 miles on the major highways. Local gas station has advertised they are charging $25 to park (we think to keep loitering down).

The director of the group I work for said we could work from home tomorrow. NICE! Should be good to avoid traffic issues. They are giving away fee glasses and refreshments. Mrs. Mac is helping with a roof top party, and they have given away eclipse survival bags - glasses, Moonpies, Starbursts, etc. They have a great roof/patio area, should be good. I may try taking some pictures, but may also just enjoy the view thru my glasses.

Anyone doing anything different?

I'll be doing the same thing I do every Monday....I'll be working.

My girls and I will go out with our special glasses and watch the eclipse together today at home. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary for us.

Here at the school about 40 minutes away from the event. I believe we will get about 97% coverage. They should have cancelled school like a majority of the surrounding counties. INSTEAD, they extended the release until 5 pm because of suspected traffic in the area. Well, about a third of the students stayed home and 50% of those who attended are being checked out early by their parents. Oh well, they gave me a pair of eclipse glasses, so I'll join in on the "fun"

Well it was pretty cool. Definitely weird watching it get dark. Didn't get "pitch black", more like night time with a half moon.

I didn't have a solar filter, so had to try and use a pair of those fancy solar shades. Well, my fancy camera didn't like that arrangement. My little, and much older, point and shoot did ok - as long as I was using a mirror to reflect the sun. The fancy camera did an awesome job during totality!

between Helen and Cleveland after that the cars were bumper to bumper all the way. Glad we watched on some land near our house. We did get a Blizzard at the DQ to celebrate. I was like a child and giddy, probably drove hubbie nuts.
It was a surreal experience. I wish my daddy was here because I'm sure we would have called and talked about it.
I can't believe while I was reading some responses online that some people actually think the Earth is flat????????o_O

Staying home with the kiddo, swimming, grilling cheeseburgers.

:raft:
we would have stayed home but there were too many trees around the house. There is a huge clearing down the road where they have lots to build houses. Only 2 out there. It was open since 2008. Anyway, it's in walking distance and perfect spot. There were men building a third house out there and they only stopped for the 1 min and 5 sec of totality, I don't think they cared at all. lol
I met some cool neighbors that came out to see it too.

We had fun here at the cabin, swimming in the river then watching the eclipse from the driveway with neighbors and friends. Pretty cool.

I let the dog outside to go pee at about 1:15pm, we were back inside within 10 minutes. Most of the neighbor kids were outside with their glasses as were many of the parents.
