get a phone screen fixed? My daughter cracked her screen last night pretty bad and it needs to be replaced.

Get this...I have insurance on her phone so I called the insurance company to see how much it would be just to replace the phone. The deductible is $130 bucks  I said excuse me? I pay 8.00 a month and then you want me to pay 130 bucks to replace the phone to? I think not. I can get a new screen alot cheaper than that. Anyways..I can order one from ebay but I thought I would check to see if anyone knew anywhere around here I could have her take it to.

So what exactly are you paying the $8/month for, did they explain that one? geez

When I asked her that same question, the response was, You pay to have the coverage of insurance if it is lost, stolen or damaged. The deductible is cheaper than a new phone. I said really, I can get a new phone off Ebay for 145.00 so your telling me that I pay 8.00 a month for you guys to save me 15.00? She didn't have a response..so I cancelled the insurance

Good move. I dropped insurance on my phone a long time ago. Of course I've always had a cheap phone until not so long ago so it didn't make much sense.

Aren't you with T mobile too? We have that on A's and when he broke his screen they replaced it. (and gave us a temp phone while it was being replaced.) We pay the $8.00 a month too. (We did go directly to the store in Hiram, but that should not make a difference!)

The store in Hiram said I had to go through the insurance company. Maybe I should call them again..they said the insurance wouldn't drop till the next billing cycle so I could still use it.

It shouldn't matter if it dropped today ... the event occurred before you dropped it and they have been made aware of the incident.

Don't let them hose you.

Called them again. I have full coverage on the phone. The coverage is for replacing the phone if it is lost, damaged or stolen. They don't do any repairs, they only replace the entire phone therefore my deductible will be 130.00. I said no thank you. I called Interstate Batteries and the guy told me he has never done work on her particular phone before however he would take a look at it and give me a quote on fixing the screen. We are just trying to hold out until her contract expires which is in December then we are moving her over to At&t cause Tmobile doesn't work worth a crap up at the college she is going to. UGH! always something.

:( I hate that. I wonder why it is different? We have been with Tmobile before they were Tmobile here and have never had any issues at all. They also guarantee their service and when we are in the mountains (and south GA. We had no service at all at a B&B we stayed in! We had to use a landline to call them!) they will route us to another carrier and there is no charge.
I know you might still want to change, but check on that for A until you do.

I pay Sprint the stinking $8/mo. But, they have done 3 repairs at no charge. So, while it does chap my hiney each month to pay the extra, it's been worth it so far. I guess.

I used to keep that insurance on the kids' phones until the companies decided it was a money making proposition.

Now, i just buy phones on Ebay. No insurance. It's a lot cheaper.

My oldest who is fronting his own cell phone bills ... still pays insurance. I think it will be easy to get him to cross over to my side very soon.
