Dishonorable Discharge and No Jail Time for Bergdahl.

The moronic judge gave him a dishonorable discharge with no time behind bars. The judge could have sentenced him to be executed for desertion. Only one appeal allowed in the military judicial system allowed before it could go to the SCOTUS, but I regress. I'm really pissed about this "sentence." Sure my being a Veteran who served in combat zones four different times during my career has an influence on how pissed I am. Other soldiers were killed trying to find and rescue this scumbag. Obama gave up five Taliban terrorists who were detained at Gitmo for his piece of crap.

I would not be surprised if Bergdahl has an agent and a book deal is on the horizon that will eventually be turned into a movie, making the piece of crap a wealthy man. He'll be making the rounds on the liberal talk shows because liberals love guys like Bergdahl. Liberals will buy his book and pay tickets to watch the movie about it, just to support his sorry ass.

I hope the families of the soldiers who were killed looking for him sue his ass for everything he can possibly earn in the future.

I'm dumbfounded.
I read an OP that stated the judge most likely had no choice not to give him jail time because of a question Trump was asked during the presidential campaign about what type of sentence should Bergdahl receive if he was found guilty at a court-martial. He replied he should spend the remainder of his life in prison. So the author of this OP said because of that statement and Trump being the CinC, if he was sentenced to any prison time, the sentence could be assumed to have been made because of command influence.

Personally, I think that's a bunch of crap because Trump was asked a question and was not president at the time. He never mentioned Bergdahl or what should happen to him after he was sworn in as POTUS. It's not like a court-martial panel came to a guilty verdict; it was Bergdahl himself who entered the guilty plea to desertion - and admission to guilt. Had the judge sentenced him to a life sentence and Bergdahl's attorney filed an appeal with the US Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, I doubt Bergdahl the sentence would at the worst probably been amended to less than life, but highly unlikely to be overturned. The next appeal would have been the SCOTUS and I doubt they would have heard it.

As it is, Bergdahl's attorney said they would appeal the dishonorable discharge. I doubt if they do file an appeal the military appellate court would hear it and if they did, they would not overturn the dishonorable discharge. His attorney knows that as well. If they do file an appeal, it's only to keep Bergdahl's name in the news because a book will be coming out. It's a move for a ton of free publicity. I really do hope the families of the fallen soldiers killed looking for this piece of crap and the soldiers who were wounded during those rescue missions all sue Bergdahl's sorry ass for every future dime he makes.

He may get a book or movie deal and end up wealthy, fine...whatever. But when the lights are out and his head is on his pillow or when he's sitting alone in an empty room he will forever be reminded of his cowardice action which resulted in the deaths of several heroic warriors, a level of respect which he will never know. He has brought shame to himself and his family even though they're too ignorant to even realize it yet. Time will bring its own judgement and punishment, just too bad it won't be behind bars.

It would not surprise me at all if he slept very well at night and felt no regrets for the loss of life he caused.
