Devils Tower

I posted earlier that Ma and Pa Squirrel had wandered out my way for a visit. They are now safely back home in Pennsylvania. When they got bored, I got them to help with some painting and outdoor maintenance projects. Aside from that, I took them one day down to Devils Tower, which neither of them had ever seen. Another day, I took them up through Watford City and back by way of Killdeer. I wanted them to see the oil action (and why I needed to buy a house -- something they thought I shouldn't have done). The trip back had nice scenery in the Killdeer Mountains, although there was a lot of rain.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of Devils Tower. Obviously, I haven't put their pictures in the public side of the forum, but I'll throw a few down in the Night Gallery.

Here is the tower:

This was a tall-looking view of the tower as we walked around it:

Here are some climbers voyaging up the side.

Here is a picture of the valley around Devils Tower.

An HDR picture of Devils Tower.

Another valley around Devils Tower.

Aladdin's Tipple: an old coal sorting installation near the village of Aladdin on the way to Devils Tower (at least the way we drove in):

And here is one of my furry little buddies who was running around on Aladdin's Tipple.

The valley is much nicer than I remembered it. It's been 40 years since I've been out there. Great pictures.
