Big brother huh...

I have loads of smart switches and bulbs. And I mean LOADS.

But honestly, I use the phone apps more than Alexa or Google.

With all the talk of automation and all, I'm reminded of an article I saw a bunch of years ago about the dangers of having stuff exposed in this new fangled "Internet of Things".

Turned out there was a very popular internet accessible camera that was sold. Turned out, most people who installed it left the security off not knowing any better. You could google search on the specific URL address the cameras used (with different IP addresses) and Google would happily show you bunches of open cameras.

I watched puppies play in someone's laundry room and even found a camera that was overlooking airport security somewhere. ( A serious violation!!) that I can remember. I could even control the Puppy cam and point it around the room. It had sound too, that I could listen in to them.

Keep your security tight on internet devices!

I have a multi-camera security system using professional grade equipment...
The camera feeds are not available online... rather tied to an NVR (security recorder).

This idea of allowing folks to look into your home... is IMO not smart!

I read a while back... there is a website one can dig and find...
That lists cameras of folks homes...
And there is a section that has 'bedroom' cameras... Oooooops...

I think they made a movie about that a few years back... :D

Yeah, I'm not doing the cameras.

I walk around the house nekked too much.

There's you a visual for the day. :p

I really don't want a bug planted in my house. I don't mind the apps, it's no big deal if Honeywell knows when I turn on my AC, but first they said that Alexa and Google only listened for key words like "Alexa" and "Hey Google". We found out that was a load of BS.

So what do they keep and for how long? Can they activate cameras and smart switches? No thanks.

1984 is here...

Rather than 'Big Brother'
The name is FAANG
And it came 35 years late.

Just my opinion:
If one considers that George Orwell wrote that novel in 1949... there was a lot of vision to see what would happen.
Many folks are called conspiracy nuts for believing the govt and big business would literally spy on citizens... regardless of the proof of it happening.

Speaking of calling folks conspiracy nuts...
Last evening was driving home... listening to Mark Levin...
He has a book coming out about the end of April...
He details and documents repeatedly where both parties (DIMs and GOP) have weaponized the govt and spied on the other party.
So to say it is tin foil hat stuff... is to consciously choose to ignore the facts.
