Back from Daytona...and back to "normal"? LOL

It was another great vacation, but the WIND was out of control. That being the case, I wasn't able to work on the next manuscript while on the beach. And other than the one day we went to DeLand, the beach is where we stayed ALL DAY 8)

On the first Sunday I received a surprise email from the editor of the Daytona Beach News Journal. We had been sending emails back and forth over the previous months and I first doubted she would include a non-local boy's book in their paper. Instead, they surprised me and put an article in their Sunday Edition. Karen sent a PDF that can be viewed below. That one single day caused Code of Misconduct's best Amazon rating to date. 22K out of a million. :DN

We left bookmarks at a few book stores on the first Saturday and handed out dozens on the beach to people who were already reading. Everyone was very receptive and curious about the book. Mrs. Colson and I wore our T-Shirts to the beach and I flew a Code of Misconduct Beach towel most of the week. You can see how strong the wind was

The wind was in fact SO STRONG that it destroyed my beloved Corvette tent on Wednesday :BH It was on year 4 and had done it's duty very well. Unfortunately, it was a car show tent with a high peak that did not work well with the high winds. No matter....I ran to Walmart and bought a low-profile tent to stand in until I can find another cool one for the beach next year. As you may guess, the next one will probably promote some book... :laugh

On Thursday, Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson and Major "Rocky" Norris treated Mrs. Colson and I to coffee at the Volusia County Court House Coffee Shop. Sheriff Johnson had a great sense of humor about the book and was curious about his counterpart in the story. Without giving too much away about the plot, I told him he had nothing to worry about :Ninja He received a large stack of bookmarks and said he would make sure his deputies got them. The town of Deland, Florida looks like a beautiful place and I may have gotten a step further in convincing Mrs. Colson to move to their fair county in a few years. :D

I'll have to post another "odd dancing couple" that I filmed at Inlet Harbor later. We found another great band there on the first night.

That is awesome! Sounds like a great trip!

(When you do move, please make sure the house you purchase has a minimum of 2 DallasHwy guest rooms. We will miss you so much and have to visit. :whistle )

It's been YEARS since I've been to Daytona and I LOVE Inlet Harbor. We spent last week at Mexico Beach. Not so much wind, but quite a bit of rain. Didn't matter, it was worth it.

BTW, GC, I haven't forgotten about you, I've just been "delayed".

Glad you had a good time. Hey you can write this trip off with all of the book promotion you did. I'll vouch for 'ya.

Thanks RNG! I need all the word-of-mouth I can get ;D

LTD, The publisher said the same thing about writing off the trip. It would be totally legit since I spent every day doing some type of promotion. :suntn

Is that around here? I've heard of it and will follow up. Is that the one in Powder Springs. If so, yes. ;D

I dropped a bunch at Books a Million and Barnes & Noble in Daytona.

You can now claim your expenses from this vacation when you file your taxes next year. That's good stuff right there.

Hey, maybe he could pay for all of us to go to Daytona and sit on the beach with a copy of his book. That would be promotion expenses right?
