Anyone watching the new SciFi show "The Orville?

I was hoping to, but there is some dumb pro-football game dragging on and on ... Remind me to not buy from any of the advertisers. I think there will be about 15 minutes left, out of an hour show. Well, if the show ever starts, since the game ended there has been 20 minutes of commercials.

The premier was not too bad. Definitely has potential.

Was looking forward to this episode, in fact we cut dinner short to get home in time to see it.

Ok, they are starting the show from the beginning. 50 minutes after it was supposed to start.

Going to let the DVR do it's thing and record this episode.

I keep missing it because of Football. The network doesn't show much faith putting it in a time slot that is just as likely to be overrun as not.

They are going to move the show to a new night very soon. I watched the first episode and I enjoyed it. I watched it on demand which I will have to do for the 2nd episode since football messed up the recording. Some good humor to it as well as a decent story. At least I have this as the new Star Trek show is only available on CBS All Access which is a monthly fee to access. I like Star Trek a lot but I am not going to pay something per month just to watch it.

I thought it was pretty good. At least worth watching the next one. If they get political, I'm done...

Finally saw the entire episode. Not bad. Acting is better than I expected, and the plot lines are okay.

Of course it moves to later in the evening during the week. So I'll have to record the episodes from this point on. Someone up there must schedule a daily chuckle from me.

We watched the first episode tonight.

Kinda liked it!! It's VERY Star Trek like; the producers clearly went to great pains to use similar uniforms, graphics, music, etc. Even many of the terms are Trek knock-offs. Frankly, some of the effects were cheezy and obviously low budget. But it was interesting and fun. There was some good humor integrated into the script, but be forewarned that there's also some language and adult innuendo.

We think it has promise. Looking forward to the next one.

Finally caught an episode (ep 2 I think, the zoo one) and liked it. I have a little problem with his deadpan delivery, but the show is entertaining.

We just watched two episodes (thank God for DVRs). REally didn't care for one; they got way into the gender neutral stuff and took some shots at religion. The other one was better. But I have some doubts that the show will make it. They have got to take some of the cheeziness out of it and ease up on the dirty talk. It still comes off as a low-rent Star Trek knock-off.

The show has potential, but it needs some work.

I haven't watched it. I'll have to remember to go to the Fox website and check it out this weekend.

Watched a couple more episodes, and unlike GD I think they need to camp it up a bit more. The only thing I like about it is some of the humorous absurdity. As social commentary and science fiction it's pretty much a dead fish.
