Bowie, Frey, Prince, Kantner, Haggard, Clark, Cohen, Stanley, Emerson, and Russell . There are a host of lesser known but important players gone too, Sharron Jones of the Dap Kings, Maurice White of Earth, Wind, and Fire, John Berry of the Beastie Boys, Joey Feek of Joey and Rory, Vanity, Mark Gray, Kay Star, Bobby Vee, Jimmie Van Zant, Gib Guilbeau of the Flying Burrito Brothers, Steve Young of Seven Bridges Road fame, Sonny James, and Jazz and Blues pianist Mose Allison.

I'm sure I'm leaving some out. It's really been a tough year.

Yep. And given the age of the ones still living, I doubt next year will be much better.

My daughter and I were saying earlier today that if we were famous we'd be nervous as this year comes to an end. It's been a tough year for the entertainment world.

The last few years have really been hard on some of my heros. Earl Scruggs. Doc Watson. John Hartford. Doug Dillard. Then Doctor Ralph this year. That whole generation is almost gone.
